Judith Winters

I have over 25 years experience in the digital archaeological publishing sphere. I came to York as Assistant Editor for a new 'electronic journal' called Internet Archaeology in May 1998 (having been a founding editor of the graduate journal assemblage), and started working with the then Managing Editor, Alan Vince. I became Internet Archaeology's Editor in June 1999 and never looked back. I have a BA in Archaeology (University of Liverpool) and MSc in Archaeomaterials (University of Sheffield).

As Editor, I

• Am responsible for progressing submissions from proposal stage through to publication, including peer review
• Am responsible for day to day running of journal, resolving any issues that arise to maintain quality, content, and production schedule
• Am responsible for editing, designing and planning of each journal issue, including the soliciting of new content
• Steer the editorial, technical and open access development of the journal
• Investigate opportunities for development and growth and ensure that the established goals are met
• Describe, implement, and regularly review author guidelines and journal policies
• Provide editorial and technical advice to authors on the preparation and submission of content
• Am responsible for design, creation and maintenance of journal web pages
• Represent and promote the journal online, via the web, social media and in person at conferences and seminars, both within and beyond the University
• Initiate and collaborate with the Archaeology Data Service (ADS) on the journal's digital preservation as well as integrated initiatives and publications
• Do anything else that is required!
