4.2 Suitability of content

The suitability of the content of SASSA was evaluated in terms of the wiki content and that provided in the field tool. The wiki content was felt appropriate and, from observing participants using the wiki, it was clear that they felt at ease navigating around its varying components. Users also commented on the dynamic nature of the wiki, and felt that the potential for it to grow and incorporate users' own experiences was a definite benefit of the system.

The SASSA field tool was felt to be helpful in aiding in on-site analysis. The topics addressed by the interpretation tool were felt to be highly relevant, and the questions asked of the user felt appropriate. In addition, the recommendations presented, as well as the follow-on analysis were regarded as helpful, and were felt to be useful in guiding the archaeologist in how a dig should proceed. The data recording aspect of the field tool was seen as a good way of ensuring vital excavation material was not lost, and users could see the potential for using this system alongside (or perhaps as a replacement for) more traditional pen and paper recording sheets.
