Hasansu Kurgan (399) excavation plan
The site was first exposed as a spread of stone forming a small cairn. Excavation showed that this covered a rectangular burial chamber. The chamber contained a single human burial, accompanied by 71 complete pottery vessels, several large animal bones and the skulls of two cows or oxen set into the western corner of the chamber. The entrance to the chamber is believed to lie to the east.
Charcoal from the base of the burial indicates a radiocarbon date of Cal BC1770-1620 (Beta 220995). Museyibli discusses the many parallels of this burial of the middle Bronze Age with others in Armenia and Georgia.
