5 Interpretation

Views of the exterior were generated with the whalebone roof frame exposed, while views of the interior were created with the whalebone superstructure enclosed with hide and sod. The interior of the house was examined from fixed points such as the sleeping platform, kitchen area, and entrance tunnel, and in a sequence of slow pans. Attempts were also made to simulate the appearance of the dwellings interior under lighting conditions that approximate those associated with the use of an oil-burning lamp. Finally, exterior views were taken from a series of fixed points around the outer perimeter of the model. The results of the analysis are organized and discussed view by view.
